經濟上的代價

北極海冰消失所引起的海平面上升、洪水和熱浪所導致的損害，到2050年將使農業、房地產和保險界等付出高達24兆美元的代價。熱浪、洪水和其他因素已經導致每年數千億美元的損失。 （美國皮尤環境組織〔Pew Environmental Group〕的報告）
到了2100年，全球因自然災害所造成的損失，將增加2倍至每年1,850億美元。與氣候變遷有關的強大氣旋還會添上每年580億美元的損失。 （聯合國與世界銀行的聯合報告，2010年）
在2009年哥本哈根氣候變遷高峰會上，各國通過了300億美元基金以幫助脆弱國家因應氣候變遷的衝擊，此外並同意自2020年起，每年提撥1,000億美元。
