Israel seeks to resume peace talks with Palestine - 26 Aug 2009

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel expects to renew peace talks with Palestine next month, following a September United Nations General Assembly meeting.

The prime minister also spoke by phone on Sunday with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, who encouraged him to work towards building a constructive relationship with Palestine.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is also traveling to Europethis week for meetings on Middle East peace with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, US Mideast envoy George Mitchell and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
