인간의 행위가 인도네시아 섬들을 위험에 빠뜨렸습니다. "규제 없는 채광과 다른 비지속적인 행위들이 지구온난화로 인한 해수면 상승과 같이 작용하며 섬이 많은 나라들의 지형을 바꿔놓고 있습니다."라고 해운어업장관 프레디 넘베리가 말했습니다. 넘베리 장관의 발표에 의하면 24개의 섬이 이미 바다 속으로 수몰됐으며 다른 2000개의 섬들도 앞으로 섬들을 보호하기 위한 대책이 없다면 수몰될 것입니다.

Human activities leave Indonesia’s islands in jeopardy. Unregulated mining and other unsustainable activities, combined with rising sea levels due to global warming are changing the landscape of the many-island nation, said Freddy Numberi, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Minister Numberi stated that 24 islands have already disappeared beneath the ocean and another 2,000 are facing the same fate unless actions are taken to ensure their protection.
