Research conducted in the United States has revealed more prevalence of the Hepatitis E virus (HEV) virus than previously thought, with 21% of the tested population showing signs of the virus.

HEV is often spread by fecal–oral transmission or through contaminated water and incapacitates the victim, in severe cases causing liver damage and death.

Frequent consumers of organ meat were found to be among those who faced significantly more risks.

Many thanks US scientists for this news that awakens us further to the disquieting effects of meat consumption.

May such diseases as Hepatitis E disappear as we all embrace the healthful benefits of the animal-free vegan diet.
